These sandwiches are great! They are standard deli fare. I thought, why not make them at home. Try to get a thick Russian dressing, the thicker the better. And a good brand of both sauerkraut and rye bread are necessary too. But they are so easy to make and so easy to enjoy.

Reuben Sandwich

Ingredients

Scale
  • Thickly Sliced Corned Beef
  • Rye Bread Slices
  • 1 Bottle Russian Dressing (the Thicker the Better)
  • Swiss Cheese, Thinly Sliced
  • Sauerkraut
  • Softened Butter

Instructions

  1. Loosely pile corned beef high onto a slice of rye bread
  2. Pour on an ample amount of dressing
  3. Cover with slices of Swiss cheese
  4. Top with sauerkraut and more dressing
  5. Put on another slice of bread
  6. Slather both pieces of bread (outside) with softened butter
  7. Preheat a sauté pan
  8. Place 1 or more sandwiches into a preheated sauté pan, cover and cook for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy
  9. Flip the sandwich and cover, cooking again until golden brown and crispy and the cheese has melted
  10. Serve hot
